“De Luxe Pie Pan”
18K SOLID GOLD

The Constellation family is one of Omega’s oldest collections, it has been around for 70 years. Starting out in 1952 as a chronometer for men, since then it has countless aesthetic transformations.

In 1948, Omega launched the limited-edition Centenary to celebrate its 100th anniversary, the Omega Centenary Chronometer (observatory-certified chronometer), the first automatic chronometer ever offered by the brand. This special timepiece was so popular that Omega continued producing it in a non-limited version.

The limited-edition Centenary was so high in demand by customers that Omega decided to create a new model family of automatic chronometer watches in 1952: The Constellation with an automatic bumper movements chronometer Omega caliber.

One of the top-range models, created by Omega in 1954, this GORGEOUS 18K solid gold timepiece that we have the honor to present today! It is a very unique vintage Omega Constellation Chronometer Officially Certified automatic wristwatch, also known as “De Luxe Pie Pan”, reference 2852 2853 and dated from 1954.

It is a self-winding watch with an original Omega automatic chronometer certified movement caliber 501, adjusted five (5) positions and temperature, 19 jewels, sweep second-hand, Swiss made.

Freshly serviced, this wristwatch is in very good condition, running and keeping great time!

Still the original and always popular, the gold “Pie Pan” dial featuring a crosshair design on it. Gold dagger indices, luminous dots (still produce a slight illumination), black minute track, gold matching dauphine-style hands and stick sweep second-hand. The dial is signed with the Omega name and logo, also signed: AUTOMATIC CHRONOMETER OFFICIALLY CERTIFIED and Constellation.

Beware that it has a beautiful dial, but it is not in perfect condition. The dial shows patina on the upper right quadrant.

This watch is cased in a 35mm round case and fancy lug design, all in 18K solid yellow gold. Original crown featuring the Omega logo. The case back is also 18K solid yellow gold, signed Constellation and Waterproof.

The case back also has (still in perfect condition) the astronomical observatory emblem (featured on every single Constellation case back since the collection was initially launched in 1952). On this watch, you still can see the observatory emblem surrounded by eight stars that was inspired by the observatory competitions. “The eight stars represent Omega’s greatest chronometric achievements at the annual observatory chronometer tests between 1945 and 1952.”

This watch comes on a new-old-stock light brown Lizard Grain two-piece strap.

Vintage watches are traditionally smaller than today's watches. Men’s watches typically measure between 29-36mm wide (some larger, some smaller) excluding the crown. In the listing details we typically try to do our best to list all pertinent dimensions of a watch. If you don't see it, or we failed to do so, please reach out to us. Women’s watches from the 1900s-1970s were also much smaller than today's offerings. Please also feel free to ask any questions you have pertaining to size.

We prefer to shoot photographs outside when weather is permitting. However, when we shoot indoors, please be aware that we shoot our photographs inside of lightboxes that are lit with 360 LED bulbs. This indeed magnifies any flaws. Usually, they are much less obvious to the naked eye. Having said that, we never photoshop any of our photography, remove blemishes, etc. We adjust lighting when necessary, but what you see is what you are getting, and we take pride in that.

The condition is pre-owned.
The item may have some signs of cosmetic wear but is fully operational and functions as intended.
Please review the photos and feel free to ask any questions you may have.

It will be carefully packed.
