OMEGA

Omega is a Swiss luxury watchmaker known for producing high-quality and prestigious timepieces. The company was founded in 1848 by Louis Brandt in La Chaux-de-Fonds, Switzerland. Louis Brandt started as a watchmaker, and he produced key-wound pocket watches. Originally, it was called "Louis Brandt et Frère" and they primarily produced pocket watches. It was until 1903 that the company officially adopted the name "Omega." Louis’s sons, Louis-Paul and César joined the business and played a significant role in expanding its operations.

Introduction of the Omega Brand, in 1894, the company released its first series-produced movement, known as the "Labrador" caliber. Following its success, the Brandt brothers decided to create a brand name for their watches. They chose "Omega," inspired by the last letter of the Greek alphabet, symbolizing accomplishment, and perfection. This marked the official adoption of the Omega brand.

Throughout its history, Omega has achieved several significant milestones and has been associated with numerous noteworthy events. Innovations and precision in the early 20th century, Omega became renowned for its precision and innovative watchmaking. The company produced several pocket watch movements, including the famous 19-ligne "OMEGA" caliber in 1894 and the first minute-repeating wristwatch in 1892. Omega's timepieces received awards and recognition for their accuracy and performance at various international exhibitions.

In 1995, Omega replaced the Rolex brand as the official watch of James Bond in the 007 film series, starting with "GoldenEye." This association with the suave British spy has further enhanced Omega's reputation and visibility worldwide.

In 1965, NASA selected the Omega Speedmaster Professional as the official wristwatch for its manned space missions. The Speedmaster became the first watch to be worn on the moon during the Apollo 11 mission in 1969, solidifying its status as the “Moonwatch.”

Throughout its history, Omega has continued to innovate and produce high-quality timepieces. Today, it remains one of the most prestigious and respected Swiss watchmakers, offering a diverse range of collections that cater to various lifestyles and tastes. Omega continues to be a prominent and highly regarded Swiss luxury watch brand.

Automatic
Ref. G 6525
14K GOLD

Made for the international market by Omega, today we are offering this STUNNING timepiece, a “US Collection” vintage Omega Automatic wristwatch reference G 6525 and dated from 1952.

It is a self-winding watch with an original Omega bumper automatic movement caliber 354, 17 jewels, sweep second, unadjusted, 19,800 A/h, 42 hours power reserve, Swiss made.

The Omega caliber 354 was produced from 1952 through 1955 and it is part of the caliber 330 … 355 family produced from 1943 through 1955. Some of these calibers 354 were chronometer certified.

This watch features one of the most beautiful and unique tropical dials that you can find. It is a black dial with tropical patina on it that made the dial become copper-bronze color, but is scattered with small gold-shiny accents, testifying to how the color changed and made this piece and unique watch that nobody else would have.

The end result of this truly unique patina is VERY hard to capture with a camera, but to the eye, it absolutely radiates and glows a warm Chocolate-Caramel, or Honey Brown color that is among the most breathtaking natural patinas that we have seen in over 20 years of collecting Omega timepieces. Normally, we would consider sourcing a replacement dial, or having it refinished, but after seeing it through the freshly polished crystal, I knew we would be be doing this watch a disservice. It is truly a sight to behold.

The dial features gold luminous hour markers and luminous gold matching hands. It is also marked with the Omega logo and name, and “Automatic.”

The watch is cased in a 33.5mm round case and fancy lug design, all in 14K solid yellow gold (15.92gr). It also comes on a new-old-stock brown Crocodile Grain two-piece strap.

It is a very good-looking watch, a perfect sample of an Omega dress watch that can be worn for any occasion. It is in LOVELY condition; it runs very well and keeps great time.

Vintage watches are traditionally smaller than today's watches. Men’s watches typically measure between 29-36mm wide (some larger, some smaller) excluding the crown. In the listing details we typically try to do our best to list all pertinent dimensions of a watch. If you don't see it, or we failed to do so, please reach out to us. Women’s watches from the 1900s-1970s were also much smaller than today's offerings. Please also feel free to ask any questions you have pertaining to size.

We prefer to shoot photographs outside when weather is permitting. However, when we shoot indoors, please be aware that we shoot our photographs inside of lightboxes that are lit with 360 LED bulbs. This indeed magnifies any flaws. Usually, they are much less obvious to the naked eye. Having said that, we never photoshop any of our photography, remove blemishes, etc. We adjust lighting when necessary, but what you see is what you are getting, and we take pride in that.

The condition is pre-owned.

The item may have some signs of cosmetic wear but is fully operational and functions as intended.
Please review the photos and feel free to ask any questions you may have.
It will be carefully packed.
